Frequently asked questions
Do I need a GP referral to see an audiologist?
No. You can book a hearing test or a wax removal appointment with us directly. A referral is only needed in some cases, for example where a Medicare rebate applies. Ask our team and we'll tell you whether a referral is worth getting for your situation.
What is the difference between an audiologist and an ENT?
An audiologist tests hearing, diagnoses hearing and balance problems, removes ear wax, and prescribes and fits hearing aids. An ENT is a surgeon who treats medical conditions of the ear, nose and throat. Most hearing concerns start with an audiologist, and if we find something that needs medical or surgical care, we'll refer you to an ENT and work alongside them.
What services do you offer at your Epping clinic?
Diagnostic hearing assessments for adults and children, microsuction ear wax removal, hearing aid prescription and fitting from all major brands, tinnitus management, and pensioner and HSP hearing care. We see the whole family, from children aged six months through to seniors.
What makes an independent audiology clinic different?
We aren't owned by or tied to any hearing aid manufacturer. That means our recommendation is based on your hearing and your budget, not a supplier agreement, and we can fit devices from across every major brand rather than a single range.
How much does a hearing test cost?
Pensioners and eligible clients can access fully subsidised hearing tests through the Australian Government Hearing Services Program, and we'll help you confirm eligibility. For standard assessments, and for a Medicare rebate where a referral applies, contact us on 02 9315 8327 and we'll explain the cost and the right pathway before you book.
Can you remove ear wax at the same appointment?
Yes. If wax is affecting your hearing or getting in the way of an accurate test, we can remove it on the day using microsuction, a gentle method performed by trained audiologists. Wax removal is $160, including a consultation and both ears if needed.
Where are you and how do I book?
We're at Shop 3, 22–28 Cambridge Street, Epping NSW 2121, open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Book online or call 02 9315 8327. We're easy to reach from Eastwood, Ryde, Carlingford, Beecroft, Cheltenham, Marsfield and Denistone.
