All Brands of Hearing Aids

At The Audiology Place, our independence means you’re never limited to one brand or style of hearing aid. Unlike retail chains owned by manufacturers, we have the freedom to fit devices from all major brands, ensuring the solution is tailored entirely to your hearing needs, lifestyle, and budget. Whether you need the latest rechargeable technology, a discreet invisible aid, or a robust device for active living, we provide unbiased advice and expert fittings so you get the right hearing aid for you – not the one a company wants to sell.

What to Expect

When you visit The Audiology Place, you can expect a warm welcome and expert care from the moment you step through our doors. We know that addressing hearing concerns can sometimes feel daunting, so our goal is to make the process simple, comfortable, and reassuring.

Your first appointment is a comprehensive hearing consultation that takes about 90 minutes. During this time, Dr. Signe Steers or one of our experienced audiologists will take the time to understand your hearing history, lifestyle, and any challenges you’ve been experiencing. We’ll then perform a series of advanced diagnostic tests in our soundproof rooms, including pure tone audiometry, speech testing, tympanometry, and, if required, otoacoustic emissions (OAEs). These tests help us build a detailed picture of your hearing health and pinpoint exactly what is happening.

If wax is present, we can safely remove it using microsuction – a quick, gentle, and pain-free method performed by trained audiologists. If a hearing loss is detected, we’ll explain your results clearly, answer your questions, and discuss all your options. As an independent clinic, we are not tied to any one brand of hearing aid, providing you with access to a wide range of technology from all major manufacturers.

We also provide fittings using real-ear measurements (REM) and other evidence-based techniques to ensure your hearing aids are precisely matched to your ears and listening needs. Importantly, your care does not stop after the fitting. We offer ongoing support, adjustments, and counselling to make sure you get the best long-term benefit and remain confident in your hearing.

At The Audiology Place, you can expect thorough diagnostics, personalised recommendations, and genuine care – all designed to help you stay connected and enjoy life to the fullest.

Looking for a pensioner hearing test in Epping? Our Epping clinic at Shop 3, 22–28 Cambridge Street offers gentle, thorough assessments for seniors, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Our Doctors of Audiology test in sound-treated rooms, checking not just how soft a sound you can hear but how well you follow speech in background noise. If the TV keeps creeping up, or conversations in busy places are getting harder to follow, a seniors hearing test is a simple first step.

Who is eligible for a subsidised hearing test?

Under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (HSP), you may be eligible for fully subsidised hearing tests and subsidised hearing aids if you:

  • hold a Pensioner Concession Card
  • hold an eligible DVA card
  • belong to another eligible group (call us and we'll check for you)

We're HSP and Medicare registered, and we'll confirm your eligibility and handle the paperwork. You don't need a GP referral to book, though in some cases a referral may allow a Medicare rebate. Ask our team and we'll guide you on the best pathway. Conditions apply under the Australian Government Hearing Services Program.

You can choose your hearing provider

HSP clients are free to choose any contracted provider. You don't have to go to Hearing Australia or a chain owned by a hearing aid manufacturer. As an independent clinic we fit all leading brands, so the recommendation is based on your hearing, not on what we stock.

What happens at your appointment

Your pensioner hearing assessment includes an ear health check, pure-tone and speech testing (including speech-in-noise where appropriate), and clear, easy-to-read results on the day. If hearing aids are recommended, we fit them using real-ear measurements so they are tuned to your prescription. We also provide microsuction ear wax removal when needed and ongoing follow-up after your fitting. Please bring your Pensioner Concession Card or DVA card and any previous hearing test results.

We see patients from Epping, North Epping, Carlingford, Eastwood, Beecroft, Cheltenham, Marsfield, Pennant Hills and Ermington. Call 02 9315 8327 or request an appointment above. Hearing tests are fully subsidised by the Australian Government for eligible clients, and our team can check your eligibility in minutes.
