Meet Dr. Signe
Welcome to my clinic. With 20 years of experience, I have dedicated my career to enhancing the hearing health of individuals across all stages of life, from infants to the elderly. My passion for Speech and Hearing Science was sparked early on, driven by the understanding that improved hearing significantly enhances education, behaviour, and overall well-being. My career has taken me from presenting research at the World Health Organisation to working in rural communities in the Philippines, where I helped develop systems that improved health and educational outcomes for disadvantaged populations. I have completed a Doctorate in Audiology at A.T. Still University in Arizona.
As I continue to grow in my profession, I am committed to advancing my knowledge and skills, and am always on a mission to deepen my expertise and bring cutting-edge practices to my local community. My goal is to provide comprehensive hearing health for the whole family, and with a global perspective, a dedication to continuous learning, and commitment to excellence, drive me to make a meaningful impact in the field of Audiology. I look forward to continuing this journey and contributing to the betterment of hearing health for all.
When I am not in the clinic, I also enjoy my role as Lecturer at The University of Sydney in their audiology courses. I am also adjunt professor at A.T Still University in Arizona, teaching the Global Audiology and Healthcare course. Outside of work I enjoy being with my husband, our two children, and our wheaten terrier, in this beautiful area of Sydney we call home.
Dr Signe Steers (Peitersen) holds a Bachelor of Speech and Hearing science from Macquarie University, Sydney, A Masters in Clinical Audiology from Macquarie University Sydney, and a Doctor of Audiology from A.T. Still University Arizona. She is also fluent in Danish and English.
Signe is a full member of Audiology Australia, Independent Audiologists Australia, and The Australian College of Audiology.
Charlen Lavoie, MScS (Audiology)
Charlen brings more than two decades of experience to The Audiology Place, having worked with children, adults, and families across Australia and Canada. She began her career after completing a Bachelor’s degree in Language Sciences at the Université du Québec à Montréal, followed by a Master of Health Sciences in Audiology at the University of Ottawa.
For over 23 years, Charlen has remained passionate about audiology and dedicated to providing the best in patient-centred hearing health care.
Charlen is thrilled to be working alongside Dr Signe Steers and to be back serving the Northern Beaches community. Fluent in both English and French, she offers families a personalised, caring approach that helps them achieve the best possible hearing outcomes.
Dr. Nick Morrison
Dr. Nick Morrison has almost a decade of experience, having worked with children, adults, and families across New South Wales. He enjoys the breadth of audiological practice, with interests spanning adult rehabilitation, diagnostic assessment, hearing technology, and tinnitus management. He holds a Bachelor of Music Performance majoring in Saxophone Performance from Wesley Institute (Now Excelsia University College), a Master’s in Clinical Audiology from Macquarie University, and has recently completed his Doctor of Audiology with A.T. Still University in Arizona. Away from the clinic, Dr Nick is a keen musician and occasionally gigs with bands around Sydney. He has a special interest in helping musicians protect and manage their hearing, informed by his own experience. Dr. Nick is thrilled to be joining The Audiology Place and to be working with the Epping community, as he brings patient-centred care to hearing services.
