Gentle Ear Wax Removal

Microsuction is one of the safest and most comfortable for the patient.  It is performed using a special microscope and a low-pressure medical suction device to suck any wax out of the ear canals very gently. It is a safe procedure as, instead of putting water into the ears to flush out the wax, nothing is put into the ear in microsuction, only sucked out.

  • $160, including a consultation and vacuuming both ears if required.
  • A 100% success rate
  • Pain-free, gentle, microsuction, nothing else goes in your ears
  • 15-minute appointments available most days, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, call before 2pm to book.
  • Our clinic is in the Northern Beaches, Forestville, and there is plenty of parking nearby

What to Expect, Your Experience:

1. Initial Assessment: Our audiologist examines both ears using our microscope.

2. The Procedure: Sit comfortably while our audiologist gently removes the wax using microsuction. You might feel a light breeze sensation and hear a soft whooshing sound.

3. Results: Within 15 minutes, we will clear your ears.

4. Aftercare: Receive simple aftercare instructions and leave without any discomfort.

Is Microsuction Safe?

Microsuction is the safest way of removing wax. Nothing goes into your ear, only a very small vacuum that gently sucks out the wax. We use a very small camera to see your ear drum and ear canal and that means we are not blindly fumbling around with your ear.

Who needs Microsuction?

Do You Need Professional Ear Wax Removal? Check if you experience:

  • Difficulty hearing or sensation of blocked ears
  • Ear discomfort or mild pain
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
  • Failed attempts at home removal
  • Use hearing aids or ear plugs regularly
  • It's been more than 2 years since professional cleaning

Is Microsuction covered by Medicare/Insurance

Unfortunately your appointment can not be claimed under Medicare. For private health cover queries, you will need to check with your individual health fund.

Is Ear Wax Bad?

No ear wax is not inherently bad. It is a perfectly natural part of the ear. Some people have a lot of wax, and some don't. Some hearing aids and ear plugs can stop the ear wax naturally moving out of your ear, which can lead to a build up. Sometimes wax can get clogged in your ear, which can lead to a blocked sensation or even pain. In which case you can use drops to soften the wax, or it is best to come and see us for safe removal.
