Phonak has built a reputation for innovation with their Marvel and Paradise platforms, and now the Phonak Lumity takes centre stage. Designed with one goal in mind—better speech understanding in background noise—the Lumity introduces smart sound processing that many consider Phonak’s most significant leap forward in nearly a decade.

Models and Options

The Lumity family comes in three rechargeable receiver-in-canal (RIC) models:

  • Lumity R – the standard rechargeable version

  • Lumity RT – adds a telecoil for use with hearing loops

  • Lumity Life – adds extreme waterproofing, ideal for active lifestyles

All models are available in four technology levels (L90, L70, L50, L30). As always, the higher the level, the more advanced the features—especially for complex listening environments.

Standout Features

  • Universal Bluetooth Streaming
Connects to both iOS and Android, pairs with up to eight devices, and keeps two active at once. Streaming covers calls, music, podcasts, and video.

  • Music Streaming Quality
Known for rich bass and clear vocals, Lumity offers some of the best music streaming on the market. With the unique ActiveVent Receiver, the device automatically adjusts venting for fuller sound when streaming.

  • Hands-Free Calling & Tap Control
Answer calls with a simple tap of the ear or a button press. The hearing aid microphones pick up your voice, turning them into true wireless earbuds. Tap control also manages playback or summons Siri/Google Assistant.

  • Waterproof Technology
The Lumity Life model takes durability a step further, surviving swims, showers, and sweaty workouts without issue. All Lumity devices are IP68 rated, but the Life model exceeds even that.

  • Rechargeable Power
Expect 16–20 hours of battery life, even with several hours of streaming. A quick 15-minute charge gives around three extra hours of use. Charging options include the compact Charger Ease or the portable Charger Case Go.

  • Improved Hearing in Noise
Phonak’s AutoSense OS has been upgraded to version 5.0 with over 200 setting combinations. Premium models (L90) include SpeechSensor to help detect voices from the side or behind, and StereoZoom 2.0 for sharper focus on speech in front while reducing background noise.

Comfort and Fit

Phonak continues to offer a wide selection of domes and custom earmoulds, making fittings versatile and discreet. The behind-the-ear design is slim and unobtrusive, and the new push buttons are easier to use than before.

App and Accessories

The updated myPhonak app provides control over volume, programs, and sound directionality. It also includes health tracking, remote care sessions, and customisation options. Accessories like the Roger On iN microphone and TV Connector add even more flexibility for use in noisy environments or with media.

Things to Consider

The Lumity is only available as a rechargeable option—no disposable battery options are available. For some, this may be a drawback, particularly if they require all-day heavy use or prefer the peace of mind that comes with quick battery swaps. Users with very custom earmoulds may also find the charger design a little cramped.
