Widex Allure (2025): Natural Sound, Faster Processing, Smarter Adaptation

April 29, 2025

At The Audiology Place, we’re excited about Widex Allure—Widex’s 2025 flagship that succeeds the Moment family. It maintains Widex’s signature “natural” timbre while delivering significant improvements in speed, stability, and speech-in-noise performance. Below, we break down what’s new, who it’s for, and how we fit and support it here in our Forestville clinic.

W1 platform (speed + headroom)

Allure runs on the new W1 chip, delivering roughly 4× the processing speed and memory compared with Moment Sheer. In practical terms, that extra headroom means cleaner separation of speech from background noise, smoother adaptation when your surroundings change, and headroom for advanced algorithms without the “processing” feel.

PureSound 2.0 with ZeroDelay (0.5 ms)

Widex’s hallmark natural sound gets an update: PureSound 2.0 with ZeroDelay brings ~0.5 ms end-to-end latency. Ultra-low delay dramatically reduces comb-filtering and “boomy” artifacts that can make amplified sound feel artificial—especially noticeable for open fittings and for people with good low-frequency hearing.

Speech Enhancer Pro (52-band analysis)

Speech Enhancer Pro uses 52-band spectral analysis and 15-channel processing to prioritise speech cues while suppressing competing noise. The goal: clearer consonants and more stable speech focus in lively environments like restaurants, family gatherings, or open-plan offices.

Adaptive Dynamic Feedback Controller

Feedback control has been reworked with adaptive frequency shifting to prevent whistling without dulling the sound, even in vented or open-fit configurations. Musicians and open-fit users often notice the benefit first: stable gain with less need to compromise.

Enhanced Sound Classifier (11 environments + beat detector)

Allure’s classifier recognises 11 real-time listening environments, now with a beat detector to better identify music and complex soundscapes. Transitions between environments are smoother, and music programs are less likely to be “over-corrected” by speech-oriented noise management.

Everyday practicality: battery, durability, connectivity

  • Form factor: Rechargeable RIC RD (receiver-in-canal).

  • Battery life: ~25–37 hours per charge, depending on streaming.

  • Ruggedness: IP68 dust and moisture resistance.

  • Comfort & fit: Discreet shell, multiple domes/earmoulds, and wire lengths for a secure, comfortable fit.

  • Connectivity: Bluetooth LE Audio with hands-free calling for iPhone and select Android devices. Music and calls stream reliably and remain stable amid environmental noise.

  • Telecoil: T-coil supported, enabled via firmware update (late 2025).

Personalisation without the clinic visit

Allure does not use deep-neural-network (DNN) processing in the hearing aid itself, but it does add AI-enhanced personalisation through the redesigned Allure app (iOS & Android). With guided adjustments, users (or your audiologist) can safely apply fine-tuning in real time. We still recommend periodic in-clinic reviews, but this flexibility is excellent for quick tweaks between appointments.

Clinical performance: what early data suggest

  • Speech-in-noise: Up to ~4.3 dB improvement over previous Widex generations in controlled testing, with ~92% of listeners preferring Allure in noisy conditions.

  • Feedback stability: The new controller has tested well for open fits and music use—two areas where older feedback systems often forced trade-offs.

As always, real-world outcomes depend on your hearing profile, ear acoustics, and fitting quality. At The Audiology Place we use real-ear measurements (REM) and speech-in-noise assessments at every fitting to confirm the prescription in your ear—not just on paper.

Tech levels and availability

Allure is prescription-only and comes in four technology levels: 110, 220, 330, and 440. Pricing ranges from midrange to premium, with the flagship 440 typically positioned around USD $3,000 per ear (local pricing varies by clinic, services, and inclusions). We’ll walk you through options transparently so you can weigh value, features, and your listening goals.

If you’re eligible for the Commonwealth Hearing Services Program (HSP) or other supports, we can advise on pathways and whether a fully subsidised or partially subsidised option suits your needs.

Who is Widex Allure best for?

  • People who prioritise “true-to-life” sound
If you found older aids “processed,” Allure’s ultra-low delay and PureSound 2.0 help preserve natural timing cues—especially important for open fits.

  • Busy conversationalists
Speech Enhancer Pro and the 52-band engine excel at untangling talkers from background clutter in restaurants and gatherings.

  • Music lovers
The beat-aware classifier and gentler gain management are designed to maintain musical dynamics and timbre, avoiding over-suppression.

  • Hands-free callers / streamers
LE Audio support, stable streaming, and strong battery life make daily connectivity feel simple and reliable.

Allure vs Widex Moment (what changed?)

  • Speed & memory: W1 gives Allure significantly more compute headroom than Moment Sheer.

  • Latency: ZeroDelay at ~0.5 ms further reduces the “hearing-aid” feel compared with earlier Moment implementations.

  • Noise handling: 52-band analysis + 15 channels yields more selective speech emphasis with less collateral damage to ambience.

  • Classifier logic: More environments and music-sensitive detection help keep programs sounding appropriate without manual juggling.

  • App experience: The Allure app streamlines remote personalisation and clinic-guided fine-tuning.

Our fitting approach at The Audiology Place

As an independent clinic, we aren’t tied to any one manufacturer. We regularly fit Widex alongside other leading brands, then verify outcomes with REM, speech-in-noise testing, and follow-up fine-tuning. For Allure specifically, we also:

  1. Profile your environments (home, work, restaurants, sport, music) so the classifier and programs map to your week, not a generic template.

  2. Verify music settings for performers and enthusiasts to preserve dynamics and reduce unwanted compression.

  3. Optimise for open fits where appropriate, leveraging the new feedback controls while maintaining natural bass from your own ear.

  4. Set up the Allure app and walk you through safe self-adjustments and when to call us for deeper clinic-level changes.

  5. Plan ongoing care—your hearing and your needs change; your hearing aids should keep up.

Quick FAQ

Does Allure support telecoil (T-coil)?
Yes. Hardware is built in; activation comes via a firmware update in late 2025.

Will it stream to my phone?
Yes—Bluetooth LE Audio with hands-free calling for iPhone and select Android phones. We’ll check your handset’s compatibility.

How long does the battery last?
Typically ~25–37 hours per full charge, depending on your streaming habits.

Is it water resistant?
Rated IP68 for dust and moisture. It’s not for swimming or showering, but it’s robust against daily life.
